How "buff" can you get?

remember that a lot of these spells can be affected by Chain Spell, greatly reducing the number of spells that need to be cast. Also, dont forget the usefulness of other metamagic like Max, Emp, and Ext.

At the cost of using a slot three levels higher though. I guess that's a decent trade if you get 50 guys with one casting and you have plenty of level-9+ slots.

Don't forget the ease of a few higher than the party level scrolls.

The group I am in is about to assualt the big-baddy at the end of Return to the temple and I spent the 135K we got in treasure almost completely on scrolls with persistant spells and other nasties like the Mantle listed above and Time stop.

Our 15 Barb with rage will have a +39 or so to hit. And our 14 fighter not much less. It will be very, very nasty.

we only have access to 7th level spells, but I bought 8-9th. We have the stats and the roll to use them Isn't that hard. We may lose a few but for the most part we will hopefully rock and considering its a do or die assualt.

Also check ou Proorogate Death a 6 or 7th level spell in Eldritch might II. Very, Very Nasty. Especially with some mass heals around.

Two of my pals sat down one day to figure out how fast they could get a character to move... I think they ended at like Mach 3.4 or something... I'm not sure....

Email Fayredeth and pester him about his Epic-level Quickling Monk.

As far as I remember, quicklings are pretty damn fast in the first place, but if you caste haste, and expedititious retreat on them, and they happen to be epic-level monks....but you do break the sound barrier, i know that. :D

Let's narrow the question a bit. With one 20th-level Cleric, one 20th-level Wizard, and a dozen high-level Fighters, Rogues, etc. to "buff", what could you pull off without using any depletable resources (potions, wands, etc.)? Your goal is to teleport in, kill a few targets (or deplete their magic items), and teleport back out.

Stoneskin, Bull's Strength, Cat's Grace, Endurance, Owl's Wisdom, Protection from Elements (one of each type, 2 on fire, lightening, and cold), Protection/Magic Circle Against/Auro of Alignment, True Seeing, Tenser's Transformations and Righteous Mights on fighters, Divine Power, Greater magic Weapon, Magic Vestaments, Barkskin, Deathward, Negative Energy Protection, Fireshield, Contingency, Chain Contingency, Delayed Heal, Haste, Mass Haste, Expeditious Retreat, Fly, Displacement, Blink, Booches of Shielding, Freedom of Movement, Spell Turning, Spell Resistance, ...
So how many of those could you cast on a dozen troops with one 20th-level Cleric and one 20th-level Wizard to do the casting (and no potions, scrolls, or wands)?

Well, since there are fewer casters than fighters, Mass versions of spells will be prefered. Mass Haste, Mass Fly, Mass Teleport, etc, along with other spells like Holy Aura.

Spell storing items will also come in handy. Not only do they allow for personal spells to be tranfered to others - like Tenser's Transformation - but they also can allow the casters to spread the spell casting burden over many days.

Also, time to prepare could allow spell casters to use Planar Ally/Binding spells. Since the called creatures are sometimes high level casters themselves, they can be tasked to buff people. One 6th level slot, possibly spent in advance, could a a Planetar which casts as a 17th level cleric.

Finally, the specific attributes of each character need to be taken into a account. A Fighter with Gauntlets of Ogre Power or a Belt of Giant Strength doesn't need Bull's STR as much as others. A heavily armored tank doesn't benefit much from Cat's Grace. Also, Divination magic or common sense help. If you know that the enemy will be attacking with fire, then you can skip most of the other protections. Against a Necromancer, you need Deathwards and Negative Energy protections most. So, depending on the circumstances, many of the good buffs will be unnecessary.
