D&D 5E How can I contact Mike Mearls and ask him about Adamantine weapons?

Here is my question:

Will adamantine weapons be in an upcoming book (i.e. Xanathar's Guide to Everything) or article?

Here is Mearls' answer:

Not as their own thing - invisible assumption is that +3 weapon = adamantine, but I don't think we ever put that in a book

Pretty sure he was looking to contact Mike Mearls with this question, not you.

Tsk. Wonder what I did to offend Valetudo - I don't recognize the name? Anyway, thanks again!

Presumably, the fact that the DMG contains magic item listings for adamantine armor, but not adamantine weapons.

That said, we do have rules for adamantine weapons: They deal normal damage to creatures like golems, which are immune to damage from ordinary weapons. Assuming this is the only benefit of adamantine weaponry, it would be odd to devote space to it in the DMG. "This weapon is just like a normal weapon, but more adamantiney!"

On the other hand, there are no entries for them in the magic item tables, and that does seem like an omission--if you hand out treasure by rolling on the tables, you'll occasionally drop adamantine armor but never an adamantine weapon.

I think adamantine armor was simply a special case, perhaps for legacy reasons. 5e doesn't really have an alternative material system in place, which means adding something like adamantine in would mean also adding other materials like heartwood and stuff. With the "less is more" design of 5e, it makes sense to me that they chose not to.

Homebrewed adamantine weapons a couple times.
Considered magic when fighting constructs like golems. And likely siege weapons that do double damage to objects.

Pretty simple. Not very exciting...

As a DM, you can use it however you want. I would have exotic metals like adamantine and mithril as requirements for some of the stronger magical weapons (+2 or higher) since the value of the items need to be very high. A DM can decide what legendary weapons are made of (since they can't be created by mortals) but they are probably made of the rarest of exotic materials. Other than that, they probably have no special properties.
