Not grumpy. knight_isa was just kinda pompus by telling me to "check my math" when he didn't even know what he was talkin' about, so I figured I'd just smack him onto his <bleep!>. :D

Which is why we love you so much.

Blasting off at people is one of my peeves.

Just get a ring that adds +60 to Spellcraft ... or even +90 to Spellcraft ... :D
Yeah... Still, finding someone who sells these things could get tough; they certainly have prerequisites that can't be met by your run-of-the-mill epic-level character.

He wasn't being pompous. He was (I assume) trying to be helpful. Just because someone challenges you and is mistaken is no reason for folks to start getting rude.

Maybe. Check your grammar.

Note: There's nothing wrong with your grammar :), but it sure sounds pretty darned rude for a first reply to you, doesn't it? Just making a point. Personally, I found it quite rude to start off a post like that.

Probably, but he was quite gruff about it.

I wasn't rude. I was short and to the point. I didn't call him any schoolyard names. I didn't tell him to buzz off. I didn't tell him he wasn't welcome here. I also didn't insult him for his mistake.

In my first reply to him, I simply stated that he was wrong. Nothing more. Nothing less. I even difused the situation a little by stating that if he didn't like the cost calculation formula, that he shouldn't complain to me about it, as I didn't write the system. I stated that because I thought that it might be possible that he would later on figure out what I was talking about. *shrug*

In my next post, the one you quoted, I used a :D to show that I wasn't serious and I was playing around. It would have looked much worse had I not used the grin.

I'm not trying to be difficult. I just don't appreciate being targeted by you when this wasn't my fault to begin with.

You must be slipping. :D

I missed the grinning emoticon, which does change things a bit. And to agree with you, I think the incredible jump between the two prices (assuming that the pricing structure isn't different in the actual book) is more than a bit silly.

Yup. It's kinda silly. I'm hoping that it has been updated and streamlined in the actual book, but I don't think it has been. It's just strange, since you have such a smooth progression of pricing for things like weapons and armor, and even wondrous items (even though pricing can be difficult at times), but with epic bonuses, that sudden jump is just unnerving.

No doubt (that's one heckofa bonus! ). But since I'm the DM, that's my problem to make it work, so it's a non-issue. :)

Ack

Sorry. I didn't realize that they'de changed the pricing progression from what's in the DMG. I figured that kreynolds accidentally added an extra 0 when calculating it out, and was pointing out the "mistake." My bad.

Incidentally, even the DMG didn't have any cost calculation formulas that looked like "spell level x caster level x 2,000gp x 1", so the 1 wouldn't belong there in the first place. ;)

It happens. It's all good. :)

 I was thinking more along the lines of "bonus squared x 20(0)gp." <shrug> Whatever.

Just out of curiosity, are you going to Rule 0 the change for bonuses greater than +30?
