One of the players/parttime DMs in my group (who posts on EN World actually) is deathly afraid of snakes.

I occaisionally will pull my Yuanti Anathema mini out and just put it in front of him. It actually seems to bother him. We rarely taunt him like that, but sometimes its fitting.

I had a friend as a teenager that was deathly afraid of snakes to the point that we could just walk down a hallway and say, "OMG, there snakes dangling from the ceiling!" and he would literally cower in fear. I had never seen anything like it.

I found out about his phobia because I brought "snake eggs" to class on day. If you aren't familiar with it, it's a gag that consists of an envelope with washers tied to rubber bands that are twisted around and fit tightly in the envelope. Then when a person opens it, the washers/rubber bands unravel and it creates a rattling noise similar to a rattle snake. If you really want to taunt your friend, invest in one of these gag gifts.
