How do you become a god?

One more question. Have you written down all the things someone has to do in order to become a god, or do you make one page when needed?

It is different for each character. There are some things that most characters would have to do. The item on the second page that neither PC wanted to do was establish a secure base of operations. They would need some place that was private and safe for them to precede. But like most adventures they had other things to do and places to go.

Huh?

I thought "Establish a secure base of operations." was item #2 on most PC's agenda's, right after, "Obtain kick butt magical weapon."

From your description I thought page #2 read something like, "Castrate yourself, rip out your tongue with a pair of red hot pliers, and cut off your eyelids." or "Kill 1000 innocents and drink there blood."

We'd definately get past page 2.

You're local, let me run a campaign for you and we'll find out :D

In both instances the players were in the middle of something they did not want to stop. The book was introduced as temptation knowing the players wouldn't pursue it. And the book is only for on character so the rest of the group would not be involved in any of this. Becoming a god or trying to take s a lot of time and effort and the character would have to really stop being a PC or everyone was willing to focus the campaign on this one PC's quest for godhood.

In our last Mystara campaign all you had to do to become an immortal was to say a word.

The word was your own true name. The one you had before you were born, given to all mortals by the Unknown King. The names were kept in the Labyrinth of Self Belief. Problem was, the King had vanished, and no-one knew where the labyrinth was. Or who or what the king was. No-one was ascending, and Entropy was suspected of this. The really tricky part of finding the king, eventually, was learning that the latest one was actually a queen. And a cat. And dead, which didn't really help with the whole getting to the labyrinth part. We never actually got anyone to ascend because the whole party got wiped out by a Solamith.

Paizo's Golarion has a Test of the Starstone. Something like 4 mortals have taken it and ascended. One passed it in a grey out and doesn't remember how. Guess what he's god of?

Of course, Paizo's not explained how this works yet. Which is really annoying. Hint.

I too am trying to think of this as a campaign topper. Keep the ideas coming.
