people that want to see something else every once in a while. That is why we do have different settings to begin with, or different regions within the same one
On thw other hand, WotC mined the 5 million square miles of the Sword Coast for nearly a decade without exhausting it...and theupcomijg DM guide is still largely going to be about the Sword Coast, and rhw areas outside it barely are (Dalelands and Calimshan).

if this were purely a matter of finding room for an AP, I'd agree, they almost never would have to leave it, except for stuff like SJ, PS or DS (if they ever even get around to that), but that simply is not the point. That is like saying 'there are still so many places in the US you could go on vacation, why are you going to Istanbul?'

I mean, they haven't been to the Sword Coast for a new thing recently, either, to be fair.
