How do you folks deal with half dragons??

I've noticed that half dragons, like normal dragons, were not created equal. I'm running a Dragon Star campaign, and would like some ideas as to how I can balance them out.

(Half dragons are a viable Player character race in DS, and give the overall power level of the setting, there not all that unbalancing)

If you use the 3.5 rules they are pretty well equal.

Depends on what you plan on doing with your campaign. Certain dragons are better at certain things.
Just like the races and class- would you say that the gnome is as good a fighter as a 1/2 orc? Same with dragons. But all in all- I think they may be pretty equal.

the 1/2 dragns are the elite of the races, but everyone usually tries for the gold or red unless I enforce some cultural standard (this house of dragons tend to have access to this stuff...).

Just looking fr ways to make the other versions more appealing.

Since you are the DM, say that those two species don't exist. Now all dragons go around mating all day long- in every city. Maybe there is ONE dragon that scours this part of the landscape and if your player wants another subtype, he has to wait for that dragon in another part of the world to get horny...
