I can't eat steak anymore because of an issue with my esophagus (it's a choking hazard), but when I could, it was medium. I used to order it medium-rare because I thought that was just how it was done and I didn't want to be gauche, but finally decided I just prefer it fully cooked through and am to old to worry about whether I am eating it "right" or not.

So, I always eat the Steak as it is, but I see someone on this thread eats it with Ketchup. I see that other people eat it with worcestershire sauce (as in, this is what my father did when he was alive) or A1 sauce.

Why?

Doesn't that dull the taste.

I mean, I do eat things with those sauces...but it's normally because I don't like whatever it is I'm putting it on and I am using those to try to make it taste differently (Prime example, I can't stand Chile/Chili/howyouspellit, so I put gobs of something on it whether ketchup, sauces, whatever). (another example, Oatmeal is supposed to be healthy, but not mine as I put just as much brown sugar on it as there is oatmeal just to make it palatable to me).

I technically like Medium Rare, when its done right. But I find that many steak houses will often undercook, so I normally go for medium. Medium is good, and if they undercook to medium rare, perfect. If I start with medium rare and they go rare...no bueno.
