Thanks TheLe. It was a very pleasant surprise to find an email saying that Unorthodox Witches was waiting to be added to my bookshelf. It actually the bright spot in a day in which the hospital basically said my father would be sent home on Friday to die, because the insurance company would no longer pay for his hospitalization.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Greg. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Stories like this anger me. We really need to take health care in this country out of the hands of the profit-driven corporations.

Happy Holidays and Thanks TheLe!

Let me update my earlier posting then to say

Mechanically I have TheLe's Unorthodox Witches, Green Ronin's Witch's Handbook, Malhavok's Arcana Unearthed, the srd's wizard, sorcerer, druid, and adept classes, and the DMG witch option as potential mechanical options among others.

Jaerdaph,
Thank you.

I voted 'other' because the 'witch' I am currently playing didn't (totally) fit into the categories, although the rural pretty comes close.

The witch we 'homebrewed' is a sorcerer, with the skill list and spell list of the druid, and animal companion instead of familiar.
Base stat is Wisdom (although, since she is a spontaneous caster, technically it should have been Charisma...)

Since then I have multiclassed into 'normal' sorcerer, because we were lacking in arcane spells. I plan on going mystic thuerge (with knowledge religion requirement replaced with knowledge nature), but that's still a long way to go.

I'm sorry. That's vile. Someone needs kicked in the face over that.

I voted other for "general term applied to nature-centric female magic-users (divine and arcane), especially of the rural variety; usually this term is used by persons who don't know much about the mystical world". Yes, it is also used as a derogatory term for Meyah Ennah (One Mother) priestesses, but this term is used to describe female shamans and adepts as well.
