I don't use any electronic aids at the moment. Thinking about picking up a cheap laptop and giving it a try. Although I think it might end up distracting my players (and causing them to make fun of me
).
Things I've found useful:
Made my own combat maneuver cards - cut and paste from the SRD, reformat a bit. Print onto card... Found these not only helped when someone wanted to make a maneuver, but also encouraged them to be used more.
Get a player to track intiative. Get them to remind other players before their go.
Crib notes for badguys - detailing a few if... then... types of actions. Also giving reminders on their tactics.
Side encounters. I like to have 2 or 3 generic encounters that I can drop into almost any situation. Find they give good thinking time if the PCs do something unexpected. Ideally they're fun rather than lethal.
Use a wipe clean battlemap and write environmental conditions in a clear bit. Find it helps everyone remember them...
