Yeah...it was pushed back to August, yo. You're not going to find out for a month. :)

Myself, I think my chances are slim, mostly in that if I did anything wrong, it was not following directions right. If I *DID* follow directions right, it still may not have the best chance. Not because it's not cool and awesome -- of course it is -- but because I haven't the faintest idea of what WotC actually wants out of it, and what everyone else submitted.

Basically, I don't know what I'm up against. I know most gamers are pretty creative, but I don't know how creative and/or original I am in comparison to them, and how much WotC would want something creative and original over a re-hash that is just different enough to work.

In other words, the most creative, most evocative setting won't nessecarily win.

Remember, you're competing against other gamers here, most of which consider themselves pretty darn creative. And you're also up against people who get *paid* to be creative. I'm sure most of us have been told we're wonderfully creative people, but that doesn't mean we're great compared to each other, just to the world at large.

One thing is interesting...that list of cliches doesn't have my main cliche there: a world torn between elemental forces.

Yay for me! :)

Why be original?

After reading posts it looks like all three of my carefully crafted submissions fall sqarely into the categore of stuff everyone else carefully crafted.

Flying Islands, Check! This was my favorite. I didn't realy pimp that as its main thing but its got em.

Water world, Check! Did this one too, I've always loved earthsea.

World of Evil, Check! I was just ripping off Star Wars realy, and my last campaign to a lesser extent.

Like another poster I'm hoping that since so many submissions follow these lines that they will think they would be good choices and then settle down to picking the one they like best. Mine! At least thats the dream we all have.

So I'm pretty dead in the water on the originality front, although the details might pick me out as I gave each a few good twists. Perhaps my writing can pull me through, I've been told I'm good at it, but there must me a good number who are better.

I was realy excited up till the delay, now I'm trying to settle in for the long haul. I'll probably work on my flying islandish world anyway, it got me all excited. Ive got creative juices coming out of places I don't want to mention.

Anyway, time to get back to working on feats.

Even so, the magnificence of your vision will shine through, and the spell-bound judge, whooping and hollering with delight, will enthusiatically pass your submission through to the next stage.
