Folks have been wonderful about keeping the community going; it's why the site is here. Without them, EN World wouldn't be here. Thanks, CSers! :D
And I, for one, welcome our new EN World overlords!

Regarding searching, I use Google's Advanced Search to delve deep into the boards. If/when my two roommates get jobs I'll send in my $20 (and if I can manage to avoid getting laid off in April) and get a title under my user name.

Since I'm on here Monday-Friday and occasionally on the weekends, I just check out the first couple of pages as that normally covers all the new threads that I haven't seen before. I generally read General, Off-Topic, D&D Rules and occasionally Meta.

Sometimes I might search through for a particular thread that I remember reading, but can't seem to find, in the first couple of pages.

I check all my subscribed threads that have new posts. Then I start scanning subject lines starting from the first page until I get to threads that haven't had posts since my last visit. Or until something pulls me away.

I like the ability to filter by category but haven't found it useful in practice yet.

I skim the titles of those threads that have been updated since the last time I visited. This is usually the first page for General, but often it can be two or three pages. I read those threads I think I might be intested in, but leave when I figure it isn't what I'm looking for which could be anywhere from one post to the end of the multi-page thread.

Same here.
