how do you store your D&D minis?

400+ minis = plastic baggies (sorted by type) and in plastic storage boxes you can buy at Wal-Mart.

Me too. Sorted by "winged monsters" "demons" "elementals" "miscellaneous monsters" "orcs" "goblins" "evil humans". I think that's it.

I use a Wal mart compartmentalized organizer for the lead ones. That's not a great system, but I haven't run across anything better than the tackle box for metal minis.

Seriously, I use large, flat, tupperwares.

I have several storage boxes. When Grenadier was still in business, they used to sell boxed sets of minis that had 20 or so; very nice boxes with foam linings and dividings, although the boxes themselves were cardboard. They used to sell the boxes empty and separately, so I bought about 30 of them. When Grenadier went under, I started buying those plastic boxes that are used to store embroidery floss.. they're nice for average PC/NPC minis and smaller critters, but the compartments are too small for bigger things. The last boxes I bought were from some online outfit called Archival Supplies (or something like that).. they sell very nice cardboard storage boxes that will hold three divided trays (they aren't lined, so you'll have to put some cushioning in there). I got three of them and haven't filled them yet....

I have plastic boxes usually used for nails and screws and the like. They're 6€ apiece. I have one for each of the 4 factions (except CE, I have 3 for that), and 2 boxes for the in-betweens.

Those minis that won't fit inside the boxes (like vrock, large silver dragon, and the huges) are in a big tool case (which also holds the tiles, the stat card boxes, and dice, counters and the like)

Within the factions I usually sort by class, race or type.
