How does the GSL affect me?

Actually the GSL WILL affect me, not because I'm a 3rd party publisher but because I rely heavily on computer aps not created by WOTC for my enjoyment of the game. The GSL took those tools from me.

No it didn't. The OGL and D20L didn't allow them either. The programs that existed were either done via different licenses, fair use, or were in violation but slipped under the radar.

I have several issues with the GSL myself, but this is a non-starter; it's no change from the prior licenses.

Hopefully some things will be cleared up so that the 3rd party people can get back to work on some cool 4E products instead of the state of limbo they're in now.

The GSL affects me in that I think it will result in a lot less 3rd party material produced. Some people may see this as a good thing. Others may see it as a bad thing.

Personally I think if it results in 3rd parties like Necromancer, Paizo and Goodman not producing products for 4e (or cutting back on their planned releases) it is a bad thing.

I like choice and it looks like the GSL has reduced my choices.

Necromancer's still going ahead, according to Orcus on the Necromancer boards. Tome of Horrors won't be 4e, and they have to change APG some, but they're still doing 4e stuff.

I think the main reason the GSL is a large-scale brouhaha here is that ENWorld has a high proportion of OGL publishers in its posting crowd. On most other gaming forums that I frequent, the release of the GSL has barely caused a hiccup.

This is good news, I look forward to the products they release.

It's not going to affect me, because I'm not a 3pp. I'll let them worry about the legal complications, it's nothing I need to lose sleep over. Not trying to sound overly callous about it, but it's not something an average fan needs to get too worked up over.

I know they still plan to produce some 4e stuff but it will be totally separate to what they have produced before. This means no 4e ToH, no Return to the Tomb of Abysthor, etc.,

Those sorts of products would have been awesome to see. I'm sure they'll still put out some good products but they will be totally unrelated to what has been previously released. And I find that a little dissapointing.
