How exactly does a dispel magic tied to Unhallow work?

I believe the intent was that it acts as an area dispel only on the creature entering.

Then why is an area effect being used when dispel has a targeting version?

You could probably do fine treating it the same as other targeted spells and following only the last two FAQ answers if desired.

No need, the area is already touching you. Go right to the SR roll upon entry.

I'd rule that any {specified} creature within the area of the (Un)Hallow could make use of the Discern Lies effect by concentrating on the effect for a round an Targeting another creature within the (Un)Hallow. Caster Level & Save DC of course being set by the caster of the (Un)Hallow.

Each creature is automatically struck by a ray as it enters the (Un)Hallow.
