How fast to level up in game time?

Also... being into action doesn't equal gaining levels. If the challenges presented are significantly below your level, you won't gain much XP.

We have a large group, occasionally over generous DM's (lots of booty), and take on too high of CR's fairly easily for the average encounter, and now most of the characters are in the low to mid-twenties as far as leveling goes, over 6 years of game time.

I guess the game would depend on how much Epic you want to have in your world. We use it a lot, and have a lot of planar influence on our campaign world. Otherwise, scaling the xp would be worth it.

Comparison... He-man fantasy. They've gotta be high level. LotR... Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli kick @ss.... they kick a lot of @ss.... and they do it by themselves.
