The books always come out just before my fiance's b-day so she gets first dibs. She will be done in 1-2 days. Then I get my hands on it, and I'll take about 3 days depending on work schedule.

O my some of you read fast

The last book took me and my fience (I spelled that wrong) almost 4 mounths at a relaxed pace. But that's also because we read it together in the evenings. I plan to do the same with this one so we will see.

Why let your wife read it first... read it together.

My husband and I used to read to each other as well. We fell out of the routine, but I always remember it being enjoyable. We reread the Narnia series that way, which was great fun.

Actually haven't read book 5 yet.

After having been shafted one too many times by authors not sticking to schedules--and also because I simply hate waiting--I normally won't start a series until the series is complete, and I can get them all at once. I read the first four HPs because they more or less stood alone, but now that the "metaplot" (if you will) has picked up, I prefer to wait for book 7 before I continue onward.

So yes, I do plan to read it. And it'll probably only take a few days once I actually pick it up... :)

me and the gf actually bought TWO copies of OotP because we both wanted to read it quickly. Since I thought book 5 was a complete dropping of the ball, stall tactic or proof that she really doesn't know where this is going, I think I'll just wait till the gf is done with this one. So it'll take a week or so.

I could read the new book in 24 hours, I have no doubt. However, I don't think my wife would appreciate me doing that, leaving her with our 5-year- and 3-month-old daughters.

I'll read it quick; but with work being what it is, it could take a week or more. Especially when I am in the Ceramic DM finals :D

But I'll put other books away as soon as I get my grubby hands on it.

I read book five in less than 24 hours. I read books 1-4 for the first time all at once in about 4-5 days, and even then some of the waiting was because I hadn't actually acquired all the books at once.

Harry Potter, for some reason I can't fully understand, are the easiest books for me to read fast that I've stumbled across in ten years or more.

I expect it will take a couple of weeks or so. I'll be reading it nightly, in brief installments, to my 7 year old daughter. Actually, it'll probably be family story time which means my 10-month old and my wife will also be listening.

I agree about book five, but I am still going to the midnight release. I am hoping that book six will be as good as book 3 :)
