How Generic is Races of Eberron?

The Raumathari and the Narfelli made war upon each other a few hundred years back: hordes of demons vs "Sword wielding constructs" Both sides were splatted by a very angry avatar of Kossuth the Fire God.
Thats the best solution. Your character is one of the last created, buried unconscious for 600 odd years (so they haven't gained any experience)

It'd fit in with Eberron's origin better if they had been designed in that war (or even Netheril) and then the process was recently rediscovered and more made by some force that was magically adept but lacked sheer numbers of soldiers. Then you can have recent creations that can still discover ancient ruins/artifacts that have mysteries attached.

I find it interesting how many people explain Warforged using the description of the Soulmechs from Dragonstar. Maybe it was a game released before it's time?

I used Soulforged in a RL campaign, they were from Gundarak IIRC. The idea isn't exactly new or anything, and is actually present in Ravenloft in the Karrnathi Skeletons and Zombies.
