How have YOU mixed in Non-Core material to Eberron

Remathilis

Legend
Ok, I'm looking for some suggestions/ideas/excuses to use expanded options in Eberron that make some sense and don't radically change the setting...

1.) Have you adapted the new base classes like Spirit Shaman, Warlock and Healer?
2.) What about the Oriental Classes (Wu Jen, Samurai, etc)
3.) How about Psionic Races (Maenad, Xeph) or just Kalashtar?
4.) Have you found a place for new races like Goliath or Illumans?
5.) Adapted world-specfic Prcs? (Red Wizard, Suel Arcannomach)
6.) What about Unearthed Arcana Variant Rules?

I'm looking mostly for inspiration and some suggestions...

I have adapted the Black Flame Zealot as a sort of blackguard variant related to the Church of the Silver Flame. I used the background of the demon that is imprisoned in the Silver Flame with all those heroic souls as a sort of "black flame" that can corrupt some of the most powerful members of the order. In addition, the "black flame" must be kept burning (and fire never stops needing fuel) through repeated killings, preferably the murder of good aligned priests and clerics.

I'd place warmages in Aundair and Karrnath.
Warlocks in the Mournlands, or among Cyran refugees who were somehow tainted by the Dead Gray Mist.
Healers in Thrane and the Eldeen Reaches.
The samurai could be adapted to fit the valenar elves, replacing the two-weapon fighting stuff by double-weapon fighting stuff; but the CW samurai is so inferiorly-designed compared to the OA samurai that I'd not bother with it.
Likewise, the Swashbuckler class would be perfectly fit in Breland and the Lhazaar Principalities, if it weren't so much advised to use the AU unfettered instead.
I'd place hexblades in the Shadow Marches, and in Droaam. Maybe Darguun too. And also among the Order of the Emerald Claw, who can be anywhere in Khorvaire.
Favored Souls in Thrane.
Spirit Shaman could fit the Shadow Marches and Eldeen Reaches.
Shugenja... I wouldn't bother with them.

Gez, one of my players is going to be playing a half-elven air shugenja with a mark of storms. Lots of wind and weather powers! Should be fun.

Other than that I am going for gestalt classes since I am favoring pulp over noir and pushing the whole "heroes are better than most people" thing right up to the limit. Black company classes might come into play with a knife master/jack of all trades and that Ranger or Scout from Black Company sure looks like it will suit my sneak player nicely. Plus I have a feeling that an Academician/Artificer would suit one of my players to a T.

I was toying with just throwing D&D magic out the window altogether, but that might have caused some issues with retraining players, so I decided to just go with skill based magic from the Advances Players Guide from Sword & Sorcery.

Since the setting has a big Giant prehistory, I found a way to sneak in Monte Cook's civilized Giants and
faen from Arcana Unearthed. The Mage Blade will also make an appearance.

Ben
