Based on this post, I am gonna keep an eye out for a cheap secondhand copy of the 4E MM.

Please do; however, these two 4e essentials books are the best 4e has to offer (just not as many monsters):

Thanks! I don't really do PDFs (except as back-ups to print stuff) and PoD often feels overpriced - but I will definitely check 'em out.
