D&D 5E (2024) How I would do 6E.

The largest obstacle to this is the Wizard. It is an inherently complex class.
Not really. You can make simple wizard, using 3.5 warlock as model. Earlier in the thread, i gave rough outline of simple wizard. Slots/spells known/prepared go down the drain. That's advanced add on. Simple wizard has magic offense/defense that scales like cantrips in 5e. So at firs level, offense would be 1d8 to single or 1d4 to two targets, defense would be negate 1d8 damage to single target or 1d4 to 2 targets. Utility - expanded prestidigitation cantrip. At levels 5/10, that goes up to 2d8/3d8, multitargeting goes to 2xd8/3xd8. It is slightly more complex than say fighter, but compared to classic wizard from 3ed onward, it's dead simple.

Yeah.

The biggest Hurdle is nerds who refuse to have a simple caster and a complex Martials as options in the game.

Between Draw Steel, Daggerheart, Shadowdark, Nimble, and 5.0, I really question if a 6e is needed at all.
The reason for 6E is to have a game that fans of all of those can play together with a similar style that they prefer. Having a drawsteel, daggerheart, and shadowdark characters in the same party..

The only way to simplify a fullcaster is by thematically preselecting the spells as part of a "domain". The spells that arrive while leveling are themselves simple spells. Possibly, the player can choose two domains, one at level 1 and the other at level 3.

Each spell should be a highly useful concept, and apply versatilely to many different situations (such as flight). As such, the simple caster only needs a few spells.

Superheroes, each with a handful of superpowers, are what a simple caster looks like.

Honestly, my biggest recommended change for 6e would be ditching ability scores (i.e. just keeping modifiers).

Other than calculating bonuses and minuses, we never, ever use ability scores. Like, ever.

It makes sense to finally ditch that old sacred cow, I think.
