Looking at the poll results... MAN, we have some oldbies here. :P

Alright, I started DMing in middle school, and I'm 24 now. So I'm in the 10-15yrs category.

The reason I took on DMing is because either noone else wanted to do it or noone else was good at doing it. After a few tries, I found myself liking it and soon even had an adult playing with us (the dad of another player), which at the time I felt was a pretty big accomplishment and told a lot about my DMing ability.

These days, well I think I'm probably slightly above average but not a great DM. Though, I have to wonder if I'd take my game more seriously if I had better players. No slight on them, but they tend to fall in the "hack and slash" category and it is a real struggle to get them to play any other way.

Started GMing in 82, and will stop when they bury me.

Am I good at what I do? Yeah, I have to say I am. I rely upon player feedback for that, but since I have players from every group I've ever run still playing in my worlds - forty two total players, I assume that I'm doing it right.

Like most evryone else, there's still a whole lot for me to learn, but that's part of the fun.

Don.

DMing since 1981. 24 years now.

Am I a good DM? Ask my players. I must be doing something right since they keep showing up and wanting to play each week. ;)

Twenty five years, off and on.

Favourites within that time have been D&D (all versions), Traveller (all versions), RuneQuest, Aftermath, Twilight2000, Traveller 2300/2300AD, OwoD (Vampire and Werewolf mainly - but elements from the other games appeared often).

I've always preferred DMing to playing.

Am I any good at it?

Yes, yes I am, according to my players over the years.

So, how long have you been a DM, and do you consider yourself "good" at what you do?

I've been DMing since 1987 and I consider myself average, rather than good. I still make occasional mistakes, or forget rules and the like. But I seem to run enjoyable games from the feedback I get.

Well, it's been 25 years since I first DMed a variant of D&D that was popular around here. Since then I have GMed all manner of RPGs, mostly not D&D, until D&D3.

AM I a good GM? Well, I never lack for players, that is certain, so I suppose I am not wholly bad! ;)

I put down 7-10 but its really more like 5 years 25 years ago and the last five years. Mind never stopped dreaming up campaign ideas in the interim, but didn't play a day for most of the late 80s and all of the 90s.
