I have around 250.

I find, however, as I've gotten older, I am much more picky. I only buy 1 or 2 per year now. (I'd rather spend my $$ on RPG stuff.)

a few hudred CDs and I still have a couple of hundred vinyl albums.

and i've got vinyl.

heck, if i dig back thru my collection i probably have wax spindles somewhere too...

I have around 20-40 CD:s, one of them is Slagsmålsklubben - Fest i Valen, of which only 15 copies exist (and I understand why because the music is not only annoying, but painfully so). I used to be very proud of this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...103-7370885-8632656?v=glance&s=music&n=507846 a record I preordered before it was relaesed, which was cool back then. I was, AFAIK, one of the first in Sweden to get this album.

You'd better get a big hard drive! At 192 kbps (which I recommend), that's about 80 meg per CD.
1200*80 = 96,000 megabytes. That's almost 100 gigabytes for MP3s.

Hard drive prices have dropped considerbly lately, you can get a 200GB drive for around $120 (swedish prices). That's $60 for all his CD's, in a more convienient format. It will take weeks to rip all the CD's though. :/

Speaking of big hard drives, a friend of mine found a guy who shared 2 TB (terabytes!) of porn on a P2P-network. Thats insane.

I only own about 125-150 CD's, but I have about 8-900 records. LP's. Wax. I think I have more vintage turntables lying around my house that I do all other stereo or video components combined. Geek=me.
