I voted all cycles and supplements forever. But that's a little misleading, because its based on the one VERY IMPORTANT detail this survey didn't include:

The DDI subscription.

I don't buy books. But I keep the subscription active. So I have all cycles and supplements. Forever, unless I let the subscription lapse.

I voted all cycles and all supplements forever, although I also view them on a case-by-case basis. As long as the book quality is good and I have a use for them, I will purchase them. It's unfortunate that there isn't an option for "will pick up most supplements, as long as the quality stays high" or the like.

PHBs are useful when I need to check rules or look up someone's power at the table. I don't see any particular reason to limit the number of them I purchase, although if one was put out that didn't have any classes I was interested in, then I might pass on it.

Both DMGs have had excellent advice, and also useful information on monster creation and templates. As long as they keep putting out interesting material and good advice, I'll keep picking them up. Even for advice I have already heard before, it can be helpful to be reminded of the basics to help refocus my efforts in some areas.

The MMs I get mostly for the pictures to show the players what a monster looks like, and for the occasional times I need to improvise quick encounters at the table. As I do most of my encounter planning via DDI, I might decide not to get MMs in the future.

The X power supplements can be fun to look through, and helpful for new players. Although the character builder and DDI have all the crunch, I still enjoy some of the flavor in the supplements. It has helped me as a player thinking about characters and as a GM for adding things to my worlds.

As far as other supplements, I have not yet picked up AV2, though I might pick it and future AVs up. I am going to look at the Race supplements before I decide whether or not to get them. The same is true for the Location books. I haven't bought any WOTC adventures other than the Eberron specific one (my wife and I are huge Eberron fans). I haven't gotten anything for FR yet, but I have the Eberron PH and CG, and I will pick up Dark Sun.

I've bought 2 cycles thus far (minus DMG 2) and some other books too, but I'm done. I won't be buying anymore, it's getting bloated enough already. And in some aspects I'm starting to grow weary of 4e as a games system. Several of the default assumptions are beginning to bother me.

I like the game, but I don't love it enough to keep throwing money at it. Dark Sun campaign and players guides will be my last d&d purchases until the inevitable 5th edition.

So far, I have only bought the Core, Core 2, and Eberron Players Guide (so, 7 books).

At the moment, I don't see that changing, so I expect the next books I buy will be the 3rd PHB, MM, and DMG books. They are nice to have at the table and for me, the CB and MB pretty much cover the rest.

I was the kind of person to buy up everything before - so they are getting less from me now with ddi - I assume there are many more cases of this as well.

Vote 3 or more, I have bought the first two cycles, IO have been hooked for the third PHB and MM, and if the third DMG is anywhere near the quality of the second I will get it too. After that it is on a case by case basis, but I have high hopes that I will be buying most future releases.

I voted 'none' as although I bought PH1, DMG1, MM1 and PH2, I've given them away. I gave it a fair crack of the whip, but it just isn't the game for me.

Cheers

I voted none as nothing about 4e makes me want to leave the 3e ruleset but in all honesty, if I ever saw the books for a couple of bucks in a used bookstore, I would pick them up just as a completionists who feels bad about not having copies of every edition of the game.

I don't know what I'll buy in the future.

PHBs seem most likely, as I love browsing through the new character options. But I'd love to see a smaller book without all the power descriptions which I get through my DDI subscription anyway.

DMGs will be decided upon on a case by case basis.

MMs are only useful for the pictures; all the crunch is available through the Compendium and Monster Builder. If WotC includes monster images in one of those products, I'll definitely skip all subsequent MMs.
