Four. My D&D/AoW group (bi-weekly), I play in a D&D/STAP group (bi-weekly to monthly), I run an online D&D/WotBS group (monthly), and recently joined a board game/Blood Bowl league group (weekly).

One group. Technically I'm in two groups but recently every member (except for me) of group #2 picked up LoTR online and we haven't gamed since. The only thing lacking for that one is an official "our group is officially broken up" e-mail.

I DM for three different groups: two of which meet more-or-less monthly, and the third meets 3-5 times a year (though two of those "meetings" are extended-weekend game-a-thons).

I also play in the RPGA, and have two loose-knit groups for that: one is a group of folks here in the Chicago, and I find myself playing something with them at least once a month; the other is a group which plays online (spread all over the country), and we play every other week or so.

So, I guess that adds up to five.

By those criteria, I game with two groups, but the third group feels and plays so much differently than the first -- despite four players in common and the other two different -- I honestly think of it as three groups.

On the other hand, I also honestly think of it as one "gaming circle."

Two groups, both D&D 3.5, and I'm DM for both. My main group is at the climax of Red Hand of Doom right now, and usually meets once a month. They would like to meet more often, but I don't enjoy playing with them due to one particular player (who is friends with most of the group) that argues constantly and has been ruining the game for me. As soon as we're through with Red Hand, I'm ending that group.

I started my other group so I could play without having that one particular guy at the table. I've been having so much fun with them that I've been getting everyone to meet weekly.

So, two groups. Hopefully soon, one group.
