How many of you came close to selling off your stuff?

Hi-

So how moany of you guys came close to chucking it all? And for those that did chuck it all and then came back, do you guys regret selling your stuff?

For me I came very close to selling my D&D stuff but after watching great Anime shows like Inuyasha anf Fullmetal Alchemist, I changed my mind and kept my stuff and rebooted my group.

Never D&D stuff, but I sold all my magic cards and have no regretted it an instant the last 5 years or so.

I still have a lot of 1E, 2E and newer stuff. Finding it in my storage might be a trick though.

I have gone through several purges in the past decade. The reasons have been either for some ready cash or to save space. So far, I have not regretted it because the stuff I have sold was stuff I didn't use.

Stuff I sold includes:

1E and 2E stuff - wasn't using them anymore

Settings I didn't use - Planescape, Birthright, Ravenloft (Don't misunderstand. I liked them but never used them for a campaign and decided the shelf space was more important.)

d6/d20 Star Wars - While I played them, it had been years for d6 and I only played d20 SW once. I liked the reference material to the books, which I still read, but again decided shelf space was better.

I think there was more here and there but those items really brought in good money and cleaned up the shelves. From one purging I did, I bought my laptop which I used for RPGs. So, I haven't had any regrets on that front.

Having said that, I did find one book that I seemed to have sold or lost that I did buy again. However, it was through eBay and so pretty cheap.

Further, don't think I haven't filled my shelves again! I am now trying to fill them with the sytems I am playing, rather than *every* system out there, which I used to try and buy.

Have a good one! Take care!

I hoard. The closest I have come to tossing it all was when I moved into an apartment.

I ended up starting my scanning project, where I scan in my books. It works fine for new books, but for my older books where I don't have receipt I'm stuck keeping the original.

I moved into a house back in November so I haven't been scanning as much.

I think Dragon and Dungeon Magazines are my worse offenders on spacing taking. I don't want to touch some of them any more because they are falling apart from too much handling.

I threw away a whole lot of Magic cards in '99 after realizing how much my obsession four years earlier had been instermental in the end of a very important relationship. Though criss crossing the country and circumnavigating the the globe in the Navy, I have never thrown out a gaming book. I've given extra copies of a book to another gamer, but I've never sold a book. Though not as extensive a collection as some, I've kept copies of all core books for each of the D&D editions with the exception of OD&D.

I'm a discriminating collector. I don't need to complete a collection (w/ rare exceptions), just to have the things I like the best. I've bought a few things for their collector value (to me) and will probably Will them to some worthy young gaming soul when I die (hopefully one of my nephews or my niece, or all three!).

I have put them away for a few years. Those were not happy years and I could never figure out why. Go figure.

Sold off all nearly my MTG about 8 years ago. Never regretted it. Currently selling off most of my old RPG stuff on ebay, and not regretting that either. I'll be keeping a few modules and accessories, but otherwise it'll all be gone in a couple of years.

What'll I do with the money? Complete my Dwarven Forge and D&D miniatures collections of course :D

I just recently sold off most of my 2E stuff. I kept a few books that I liked but got rid of everything else. I also got rid of some third party 1E books. Though I kept all of my 1E TSR books. I've been using the store credit to buy new Wizard's books. That way I can "buy" gaming books without guilt... :)

I will be getting rid of my Dragon magazine's number 250 and under. Also my older White Dwarf issues...
