guesstimating 21-40.

10-15 for pre 3e.

And I've had five distinct 3e groups after that.

thats not that many when you consider I've been playing D&D off and on for 18+ yrs.

Awesome question. Ah the memories . . .

At least a score while gaming in high school and previously.

Another 30 or more playing in college.

About 15 in groups after college.

Then, with the RPGA and other conventions, DMing six slots per convention, with 6 player at a table, times about 60 conventions judged at since 2000. Figuring 50% of the convention DMing is overlap, that comes out to, er, a darn lot of players.

(They say there is at least one freak at every convention, but I've never seen him.)

Just as a DM, I've run more than 101+ people through Grymwurld.™

Like some of the others, I started in the '70s, moved around a bit, ran concurrent campaigns, etc. And this is not counting the games I've run at cons.

Well, changing the parameters a bit.... if you discount conventions and one shots, I am still solid in the 500 - 750 people.

What can I say. Playing over 30 + years. When I was a single rat, I played D&D 5 times a week (representing 3-5 separate campaigns) for nearly 10 years. Campaigns and people would change on average every 3-6 months. During my single rat years, the groups averaged 6 to 8 players.

And yes, I had no life (thought I would get that in before someone pointed that out :p )

Good question. I place myself in the over 100 category. Over 20 yrs of gaming, with varying groups through HS and college contributes to ~65 various people. The remainder come from games at the FLGS, NC Game Day (Rel, Henry, BelenUmeria and others), and from playing and running games for years at Origins. I estimate it at around 150, scary as that seems.

My WAG is 61-80.

Gaming club in middle school, a lot of turnover.
Gaming at a locol game store in middle school, very large groups, usually 15-20.
Regular gaming group, started in middle school and continues online now.
Current d20 group, and several offshoots.

Over 101.

I go to either Origins or GenCon pretty much every year since 1993. I also go to at least one or two regional cons as well as a few Game Days a year. Before '93 I was in the Navy for six years and played at every command (6) except boot camp. I started playing in '78 and have been in many home games for at least a few sessions. I've moved from one major city to another a number of times I would have to make a conservative estimate of well over a 1000 different people I've played D&D with. If I were to take into account LARPs, and other systems that number would easily triple.

The question does not exclude one-shots or conventions.

Then P-Kitty and I are in the running for the title crown, because my numbers jump to somewhere in the mid-1000s if one includes conventions, one shots and demo games. I've not been keeping count so that is a conservative guess.
