More than 100. I've been playing since 1980, and I've been to a few conventions. I've also become heavily involved with RPGA over the last couple of years.

I listed 78 people I could think of. Also, I counted over 20 from conventions whose faces I could remember. I recall 2 sessions in partucular that had at least 5 I can't put a face to any longer.

As I side note, I started playing D&D in 1980, so I've been around the "gaming block" a few times.

Over 100, because I lived in Charleston, SC. When the AFB and Naval bases were going full bore. Plus I was in the Navy for over 10 years. Lots of "over turn". I would love to run into a lot of them again.

Plus they are why I played so many other systems. They showed me that many games were worth playing.

You know, when you play D&D with someone, you're playing D&D with everyone they've ever played with, etc....

I have an idea for a new game:

Six Degrees of Kevin "Piratecat" Kulp!

How many degrees separated are you from having played D&D with Piratecat? :)

I've played with you. How far does that get me?

Parameters of this poll:

1. Only count people you have played D&D [any edition] with. (Not any RPG, not D&D clones – just *D&D*.)

2. Only count people you have played at least one real/full D&D game session with. (Don’t count talking about the game, or just making up a character for a game – just those you have actually *played* with.)

3. Please try not to exaggerate. If you can’t control the impulse to overstate, go all the way and vote the top option, “All of them.”

4. If you have honestly played D&D with over 100 people, please tell us how – do you go to lots of conventions, etc.?

5. [Added after initial post] Only count people you have played face to face with, at the same table -- don't coun't online gaming, or PbP, etc.

Umm, about 5. Why can't I count my OpenRPG game? It's been ongoing for over a year now. My last campaign went about six months and the one before that went 18 months - all weekly games. What's wrong with OpenRPG? Or is that not what you mean by online gameing?

I have played with literally hundreds of people thanks to my involvement in the RPGA, particularly the Living Greyhawk campaign. Heck, I have probably gamed with hundreds of people within merely a 150 miles radius. I have been to more conventions than I can count since 2001 and have played at hundreds of tables of RPGA games, ranging from Living Arcanis, to Living Kalamar, to Living Greyhawk, to Living Force, to Legacy of the Green Regent, to Mark of Heroes, to Xen'Drik Expeditions. I have (almost) done it all. Add in to that a fairly fervent and diverse college crowd where I live for numerous home campaigns and I can honestly say I have probably played D&D with damn near 300 different people.

I could count 55 for sure- since I've been gaming about 28 or so years, that's just around 2 people per year added to my shared history.

And that is without any gaming at conventions or the sort*- all small, private groups.

* I was supposed to DM at one convention, but nobody (except my buddy) signed up for ANY of the games at that con. :(

Since this is "D&D" and not "d20, my best guess is 21-40 since 1999, drawn from a rather short list of games:

1). Second Edition oneshot
2) Third Ed. Campaign #1
3) Third Ed. Oneshot:
4) Third Ed. Campaign #2
5) Third Ed. Campaign #3
6) 3.5 Convention One-Shot:
7) 3.5 World's Largest Dungeon
8) a 3.5 One shot (as DM)
