How many prestige classes?

RichGreen

Hi,

One of my players is dithering between becoming an alienist or a dragon disciple and has asked if he can do both. Is it possible to join more than one prestige class? If so, can you start a prestige class, then multiclass to a second and keep switching back and forth as you go up levels? Or do you have to wait until you've finished all 5 or 10 levels before taking a second prestige class?

And if you can do all/any of this, would it be silly?

Cheers

You can have as many prestige classes as you want as long as you have the prerequites. You can take one level in one and the switch to the other, and do one of that and switch back if you want to. A few prestige classes have restrictions but they are the exceptions.

Crothian is right. Unless the PrC description specifically mentions restrictions, there is no limit to how many you can take. And yes, it can get kinda silly. I mean, how wierd would an Oozemaster/Heartwander be? Seriously? :)

combine prestige classes in whatever munchkin combination you think is needed. Just gives me the right to provide an 'proper' challenge for you. As in an opponent(s) that are just as munchkin as you are

By the book, you can do it. But silliness trumps all, and if a combo seems particularly dumb or overpowered to you, feel free to disallow it.

Mind you, having an in-game justification for this decision would be good.

What is a Heartwander and where is it from?
