how many times do you roll "1"'s?

i am also not a mthemetician but this is not what you are looking for. rolls of only 12 and 9 will also avg 10.5.

i think what you are looking for is more your distribution of rolls and not just an avg.

There was a method of determining whether a die is biased, in one of the early Dragons (there's an archieve with 4CDs containing the first 250 Dragons, and it's on there).

I had two ones in a row some time ago. The first was a fort save against horrid wilting. The second the resulting fort save against massive damage.

Damn, that was frustrating. It was a special fight - everyone hat one enemy that was tailored to him - and I dropped before I could make a nice full attack against that drow bitch! Let people rant about resurrection spells taking the fun out of the game: I was enraged enouth over that, even despite the fact that we had a cleric cast true resurrection on me.

I had a Paladin player character in a campaign I Dmed, who was min maxed to the bone for saving throws.

Of course he died to a Bodak Gaze Attack at DC 15, the first save or die situation in the campaign, by rolling a 1 with +15 to fortitude.

I only roll 1s once every few sessions. I have this glittery gold d20 that my boyfriend gave me that usually rolls a 12 or better. I don't think it's ever let me down. Unfortunately, when we're in the middle of a big battle, I have to roll my three attacks at the same time. My other two attack dice are equally consistent, but they're either really hot or ice cold. Greenie rolls 5s when it's off and the Big Blue rolls 3s and 4s when it needs a night in the bag.

From what I can recall, when playing my cleric with -1 initiative, I'd roll more ones initiative than anything else. Once, we had 2 battles in rapid succession - the bosses TP out and then send the expendable monsters in. My initiative for the first battle was 1, and the DM asks if we want to reroll initiative since there was little time between battles. I, of course, ask for a reroll. I end up going on zero. :(

5%.

I roll a 4 on two different die 30% of the time.

4 is the evil of all evils.

Kinda like that time cube thing.

We have a critical critical miss chart in our group so when you roll 2 1s you have something nasty happen (same as 2 20s but something nasty to the receiver of damage). we have had 2 bad things happen to other characters while my character has received the same wound 3 times in a row, as well as 2 other unfortunate things. So 1s are my bane, especially in pairs.

i hope this is the correct forum to pose this question.

on a d20, how often have you rolled up 1?

for myself, i usually roll up a 1 around 4 to 6 times in one game session. as a result, although i am glad to have fairly high scores in relevant skills, abilities, saves, and so on, the chance of rolling is still a great fear for me.

there have been many times that all i needed was a 2 or higher to succeed at a particular save, but end up rolling a 1. or when i desperately need to hit an enemy just once to bring it down, but once again, end up rolling a 1. more often than not, i roll a 1 in critical and important situations.

i am a firm believer in disbelieving that a particular die is better or worse than another. even then, i have used different dies to see if i get any better results rolling 1. more often than not, i usually roll the same amount of 1's during a night.

strangely enough, i hardly roll any 20's. i average around 1 to 3 20's in a game session.

does anyone ever feel that it doesn't really matter how high a particular score is, because there is always the possibility of roling a 1?

I believe in a great Karmic circle in which I can cheer my 1's for bringing me a future 20 and hate my 20's for promising a 1 to come...
