Well just because some people play certain classes a lot doesn't mean those classes are balanced. I'm a real sucker for barbarian/rogue multiclass (I'm a big fan of "hold my beer" moments and nobody does those like a barbarian/rogue) and I'm never going to win an award for high DPS with those builds...A lot of people know that druids are strong but don't find them fun to play.

The larger point is that these issues aren't clear if you are just looking at the usage numbers. The only thing that is clear is that a lot of people are playing the classes. In video games, like league of legends, they often look at usage and win percentage. One of those simply isn't applicable, so it's reasonable to think WotC uses the other. DM's also have huge impacts on player experience, which makes individual feedback really tough to interpret, we see evidence of this on this forum in how people perceive DMs.

We, also, have no indication that WotC is engaging in white board math to find optimal DPR numbers based on number of encounters per long rest, and number of enemies in those encounters. If they did, it wouldn't have taken Sly Flourish and company to figure out the math behind proper encounter balance. Instead WotC gave us whatever that table was in the DMG.

So I stand by my statement. WotC doesn't see these as major issues, if they see them as issues at all.

I voted 1 cause 0 isn't an option. I'm buying their product, not their stocks. If company makes product that i like and want, i buy it and don't give 2 cents about company that made it and their corporate shenanigans. I look at shenanigans when i'm investing in stocks, cause it can directly impact my bottom line (and i hate losing money).

Depends on what you consider morally repulsive and where you draw the line (mine is active use of slave and/or child labour and scamming customers and i would never knowingly buy shares of companies that do that, no matter the profit). WoTC didn't really make any morally repulsive shenanigans as far as i'm aware (never took deep dive in their business practices).

I don’t know what the shadowrun books are like but if they are anything like Battletech I understand exactly what you are saying.

I bought the Starter Set on clearance at Target and.. yeah. Now that I think about it, that’s basically most of my issue with the Shadowrun 6e Beginner Box too. It’s a bit of a mess to look through for someone that isn’t familiar with the games. Publishers really need to take notes from Chaosium and Paizo on how to put together an intro set.

I haven't seen the recent Battletech stuff, but my impression was that the consensus on the two lines is that Catalyst likes Battletech a lot more than Shadowrun. So if anything seems bad in Battletech products already, it's probably even worse in SR books.

I voted 1. It's not that I don't care about their shenanigans, it's that I expect it. And that I hardly think WotC is particularly bad by the very low standards of corporate greed.

D&D, on the other hand, is the greatest game ever invented.

I'm just glad to learn that the hatred for Catalyst is widespread in both communities.
