Sure, I have tried McDees in various countries, but when it comes to general travelling I prefer to try the Mom&Pop places - better way to meet people, strike up interesting conversations, try new recipes/foods, as a result have better stories and eventually become King of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Realm...
Yeah, when I vacation travel I try to locate places that attracts blue collar workers. It's a good way to avoid tourist traps and find the good rustic stuff in back alleys.

That’s a pretty damning indictment of other games?

I play other games because they attract me (or others in my group) with an inspirational setting and fun rules that do something that D&D doesn’t.

There is no other reason I would look at running a game.
There is a difference between "play" and "run". Where I live and in my circle of friends, I'm basically the only person who runs D&D, so if I'm a player it's always in a different system. I was perfectly content with being a D&D guy until OGL debacle made me disgustedwith WotC. Then came the Pinkertons, turnign D&D Beyond into chockepoint, push to turn D&D into a crappy MMO requiring SIGIL software I have no interest in, handling of spells update on D&D Beyond...

You're missing out on the best part of traveling to new locations. It's not hard to figure out the hidden gem restaurants, use Yelp
Ain't got time for that. I know local places, but still competing with McDonalds in keybarrqs like "my kids will eat the food" is steep.

I'm usually lookong for food, safely and fast, if I am traveling, not conversation.

I am not even sure what this means. D&D Beyond is a chokepoint? So they didn't just sign a deal to put the 2024 rules on my preferred VTT Foundry? Roll20 won't also have them? I can't think of anything in the foreseeable future I can't do on Foundry or just using pencils and dice at the table.

Sigil is just their attempt to build a better mousetrap. How well they end up doing at that remains to be determined, but if it ends up being popular it's just going to push other VTTs to improve their product. And again, I can keep using version 12 of Foundry if I don't like the direction their team takes things since I host my own VTT. Win-win.

How familiar are you with thesis of Chockepoint Capitalism, as presented by writers Rebecca Giblin and Cory Doctorow?
