How Much of a Railroader Are You?

How often to you railroad your players?

  • I RR all the time. It's the only way to get the players doing what they're supposed to.

  • I RR some of the time. If I put effort into a plot, I expect the players to go for it

  • I rarely RR. If the players are going way in the wrong direction, I'll prod them.

  • I never RR. If the players' actions end in disaster, too bad. They had their chance.

Gab,

Not me. But then I tell them "Hey this dungeon is the gates to Hell! Or at least a former temple of Orcus!" ;)

Yes, when the Adventure Express becomes the El Diablo Night Train, one would think that they would ask me not to railroad...one would think.

I don't railroad one bit. I'll write a set of adventures and start it everything off. I've had a few sessions where the entire thing was improvised. Those sessions are the most memorable because sometimes they get out of hand. It is this enjoyment that prevents me from railroading any future sessions.

I often "hint" at what "the adventure" is, but if they want to do something different, they're welcome to. For that matter, I often give the players the option of doing one of several things, with each choice carrying different consequences.

Well just proves that not every PC is as smart as you'd like Gab.
