Heh...

Chits! Gah! We kept ours in an egg carton. :)

Those old covers really take me back... I wonder, could someone make some avatar-sized pics of every D&D "edition" out there, and then folks could use them in their sigs or something to signify when they started playing. Mine would look like this:

---Snip The Old Blue Book---

I'm getting all misty here. The blue book really brought...back...memories

The Way We Played
to the tune of "The Way We Were"

Torches
Light the corridors of the mine
Infravison's rendered useless
The way we used to play
Scattered corpses
Of the orcs we left behind
Loot their bodies for the treasure
The way we used to play

Can it be that it was all so simple then
Third level was the max and it was great
What'll happen if we try to get to fourth
Tell me - Should we? Could we?

Rules
May be simple as they get
Roll the dice and kill the monster
There's no such thing as regret

So it's the slaughter
We will remember
Whenever we dismember
The way we played

So it's the treasure
That we will recall
With Our DM, Monty Haul
The way we played

I'm a Blue Boxer...

Yup... turned 40 jus' last summer...

Buttercup: I think I know how you feel about gaming at 40+... I'm beginning to question my maturity... Or maybe it's my sanity... Then again, gaming is WAY more interesting than RL... And less depressing too.

EricNoah: Hey I got that blue box edition too--now I'm hanging on to it 'cuz it's almost a museum piece! :D

WanderMonster: LMAO! That was absolutely fabulous! :D

A lot of AOL users cannot use the volting system here because of the proxy systems at AOL. (Which I believe is what keeps DG from voting in polls).

Too lazy to read the other pages (: but I'm (still) on AOL, and can vote through a separate IE browser. Yes, I'm spoiled by ALT-TAB. (:

Cedric.
aka. Washu! ^O^

I'm 25. Started playing in... hmm, let's see... hmmm........
I think I was 11 so that would be 1989. That means I've been playing for 14 years. Man, I'm gettin old! I caught myself admiring a walker yesterday.

I remember we started with, I think, it was OAD&D. The three books. The book cover with the fighter standing, sword poised, waiting for the descending dragon is what I remember best. We moved on to 2nd ED. pretty soon thereafter.

Ahh, the memories.

First try at getting back in the saddle I posted a couple of ads online (DM looking for players kinda thing). This turned out to be a disaster as one of these guys turned out to be the gamer from hell. Serious ego problem. He was responsible for the most excrutiatingly painful gaming session I have ever been a part of - worse even than the time some twink brought an assas... ahem... fighter/thief to an open table. The rest of the guys were great, but I was so disheartened by this one turkey that I let the whole thing drop.
Hmm... Melbournite... I don't suppose the game you ran was based in Harn? If not, want another player or want to join another group?

20, soon to be 21 (yay I will rise another age group level... now to decide on what feat to take...mmm... I'll go with Wise & Responsible I think for a +10 competence bonus on Wisdom :D)

btw. Started playing during 2nd Edition, 3 1/2 years before 3rd edition made it's glorious entry.
