How RPGs nearly killed my creativity (and how I got it back)

I came to a similar, though less drastic conclusion. I've never run a published setting and never intend to. I like the d20 system and the OGL. And I looked at my boxes and boxes and boxes of 1st and 2nd edition material and said, "what the heck do I need these for?"

$4,000 - $5,000 worth of books (based on cover price, not current value). I don't read them anymore, I can't reference them, and 9/10ths I didn't really care for anyways.

I'm only keeping a few older books (Greyhawk accessories, since I do Greyhawk fan work as a sort of sideline), a select number of current WotC books (I believe WotC still usually leads in consistency and quality of design, which is moderately unfortunate), and d20 material that has OGC I want (and there's quite a bit of that, but much of it is bought in bargain bins or through discount cards my FLGS gives out).

I feel much better, actually,
Cheers
Nell.
