D&D 5E How should be a d20 Superheroes?

But M&M isn't compatible with D&D or d20 Modern. Its leveling up is different.

True, but I don't think the superhero genre as a whole is really compatible stuff like d20 Modern. If that's the goal look at the original M&M rules which really was superhero D&D.

Stretching out the D&D system, it's only really viable for Street-Level Superheroes, with characters more like Batman, Punisher, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Daredevil and so on. It really would have problem trying to fit in characters like Superman or Thor.

yeah a d20 system which builds characters out of feats could be used for Supers, instead of levels xp is spent on new ‘feats and powers”
I have thought about that. My idea was the power level would be relatively fixed, unchanging, but the players could earn "storytelling points" to leveling up the "knownledge level", learning new languages, driving vehicles, fixing technlogy, first aids... feats and things like this.

A somewhat loosey-goosey-er (than current 5E) level system could accommodate all this very nicely, I think.

I don't know, man - at 16th level the barbarian in our 5E game could FLY. o_O

You could extend levels past 20th in 5E pretty easily if you wanted to. The class features you get at those levels would have to start to be at the power/effect of lair actions and region actions.

M&M is a great system that only superficially resembles d&d and the d20 system. It was very cleverly designed to look like it by people that played alot of d&d so it would be familiar enough to people to pick up easily. Great systems. Can’t recommend it enough. Definitely not what the OP wants, but I don’t want others discouraged from trying it.

Maybe M&M is the most famous or popular TTRPG, more than Champions (the franchise origin of a MMO) or Aberrant (by White Wolf, set in the universe Aeon). Do you remember "Brave New World"?

I have been think, and the one what I really want is a d20 Modern with superpowers where I can use the rich mythologies by DC and Marvel, but with nerfed version of the characters when it is necessary.

And I think this nerfing of those bulletproof superheroes will be necessary if DC and Marvel want to make money with the videogame adaptations using crossovers as recourses. If WotC can create this d20 superheroes could make a lot of money with the licences.

* Did you know for a time Wonder Woman was without superpowers? But she was still a good fighter.

That is because it is on it's 3rd edition, and each edition from 1st to 2nd to 3rd has moved a bit more away from the core d20 system, while adding in more of their own ideas.

I think Silver Age Sentinels might be a good choice if the objective is cross compatibility with other d20 systems.
