How significant is Spell Resistance for Evokers?

SR is very annoying. At higher levels all most all creaturs have SR, so every offensive spellcaster eventually takes Spell Penetration and usually Greater Spell Penetration.

More annoying than SR is energy resistance. And the combination (demons/devils) is very annoying. Might as well fight a golem.

While I play a fighter/mage rather than an evoker, I know the choice for my mage: if it has spell resistance, don't bother with SR=yes spells except Banishment. Fortunately, his primary direct damage spells are whirling blade and vitriolic sphere--both of which are SR=no.

My cleric who also doesn't have Spell Penetration, etc, is often confounded by spell resistance but doesn't have SR=no spells, so he'll cast a slay living or a blade barrier and hope for the best. Since, the best just doesn't seem to happen, however, I guess he'd be better off casting holy sword (glory domain) and going to town on them.

Playing a solo 15th level eldritch knight. SR monsters are very tough, I have to make a metagame judgment that they are low CR for me to have success on evocations.

I just did a scene attacking a vrock bard and blew two disintegrates in a row due to SR and know the two cones of cold I have will not do him. Now the plan is to get away, get a sword enchanted with align weapon Good, load up on melee buffs, and come back to go after him hand to hand to be able to affect him.

In my campaign the orb spells are evocations and sr yes. The damage they throw out seems in line with that level of evocation.
