How to DM AND play char.?

Let me add my voice to those telling you not to run a DMPC.

It ruins the game completely. Players believe that the DMPC wont die and may well rebel and try and get your DMPC killed off. This will ruin your fun.

Remembr the players are the heroe's in the story not your DMPC.

Don't do it, it will end in tears.

I have never had a good experience with DMPCs - either playing or being part of a group that had one. If you want to play and DM, you either need to rotate within your group OR you can DM your current group and find another to play in. This is really a great way to steal....I mean borrow plot ideas as well.
