How to find someone using Mind Blank.

Here's the deal. Someone stole a lot of magic items from our group and we would like to get them back. The problem is that the person has (we assume) an item that duplicates the effects of Mind Blank, as none of our divinitions work on her.

So could anyone tell how to find her with our resources.

I'm a 12th level cleric, the other notable member in our group that can help find the person is an 11th level wizard.

I could either use spells that I'm not aware of that work (that's where you guys come in).

Or hire a very good tracker to find her, although it's been nearly a week now, so he'd have to be really good.

I'd disguise myself as a member of her church, go to her church and ask specifically for her (it wouldn't be that simple of course but that's very basically what I would do.)

Maybe a discern location or locate object at an odd time of night when it's not likely the item is in his/her possession. If it's just sitting somewhere discern location should tell you exactly where I think, no books to check. Too lazy to pull up the SRD.

But it's not likely he sleeps with all the loot and his loot and his gear at all times. Or at least, he shouldn't unless the DM has some plot reason for keeping your stuff away from you regardless of your creativity.

Mind Blank is tough to defeat, especially at those levels.

- If you know any of his allies, contact them and interrogate.

- Physical tracking (assuming he didn't teleport or plane shift).

- Offer a reward for information about him.

- Contact the local Thieves' Guild. Maybe they know something about him.

Well, the item is a ring (I got that out of my DM when he was drunk , I know, I'm evil.), so she'd probably not take that off a lot. We're not high enough level for discern location and locate object doesn't have a good range. So those won't work, I'm afraid.

I was also kind of thinking of a reward but since we're not the popular people in the world (we're wanted aswel.) that doesn't seem like a viable option. But maybe a reward for the thieves guild if they find her, I assume they do things without gaining a lot of attention to themselves or to me.

If anyone has any other ideas please post them. Monsters, magic. Not a retreiver though, we've tried that. I need an item from her possesion for that to work.

Make up terrible stories about her until she has to come and set you straight.

No seriously, the only way to find her is with the 9th-level psionic power metafaculty, and even then the psion needs to have located her with Clairsentience or Telepathy beforehand.

well for 3000 gp you could get a scroll of discern location and there you go.

It depends on if it is worth that much for your group.

Rather than directly locating her, how about trying to locate your items? If they are not in her possession while she sleeps, this might work. I assume the Mind Blank would prevent them from being located while she is carrying them, but if she puts her backpack down at night...

Paying bards to spread the word of her villiany could be effective. Mention a reward for information at the same time, many bards are skilled at Gather Information. Some of them are even trustworthy.

Raising a ruckus with her siblings and parents can also be effective, although it is a really nasty thing to do. Not suggested unless the whole group wants her attacking your families.

If you know why she stole it, it could also help a lot. If it was just greed, you could probably make it hot enough that she decides it just isn't worth the trouble that you cause her. If it is some other motive, it may help you anticipate where she will go next.
