How to get Inside a Dragon

Hi all . . . In the game I'm in we've got a "White" Dragon that we will have to square off against soon. I've got some ideas but I wanted some outside input first.

Its an FR campaign and this dragon is allied with Aurilite clergy. It appears to be a white dragon but it has one noticeably odd feature - double pupiled pink eyes. I am playing a cleric and have already cast commune so I know it is a white dragon, but not "just" a white dragon. I haven't figured out what else it is.

Now my character has a couple qualls feather tokens (trees), and I'm trying to figure out how to get them inside the dragon. The two ideas I have now are

1) Summon a bunch of Lantern Archons and have them T-port w/o error (with one of the tokens) inside the dragon and activate it. Of course this may not be possible do to the nature of T-port without error, I'm trying to figure out how to test this without giving the plan away.

or

2) Cast ethereal jaunt on myself and walk inside the dragon, ending the spell once inside and then activating the token. I'm not sure I want to be inside a dragon, but with a resist acid going it may not do to much damage before i get out.

If anyone has other ideas or sees glaring problems with these I would appreciate your comments.

Using a token: tree as a weapon coupled with teleport is a risky tightrope to walk.

It'd suck if someone did it to your character. Anyone with access to SM4 and 100 gp worth of magic items could basically assassinate anyone at will. Not very fun, eh?

Personally I assume the tree tokens can't be used as offensive weapons.

Sounds like an albino dragon to me. Yeek!

I wouldn't let teleport work, not a chance. The surest way to get the token down its throat is to get swallowed whole. The next surest way is to summon a fairly hardy creature that you can speak to, give them the tokens, and ask them to do it for you.

When this came up in my game, a Figurine of Wondrous Power did the dirty work. It's not an insta-kill, but it's a good way to make a big ouchy. :D

It'd suck if someone did it to your character.
However, since my character is medium sized, its unlikely anyone could T-port inside him :)

The problem with the summoning is that, other than Lantern Archons and Air Elementals, my character isn't familiar with summoned creatures' toughness. I'll probably use the ethereal jaunt trick cause I'm fairly certain that I'm tough enough to survive a few rounds inside a dragon.

I suggest you search another tactic.

When you do this, expect your DM to do the same thing to your character. Beeing medium sizr is no defense for it.
Also there is no rule which says that your plan works, so it is a DM's call.

I'm just not worried about this tactic being used against me for 3 reasons.

1) It would require someone very small to fit inside my character to pull it off. Ending the ethereal jaunt without sufficient room just shunts you aside.

2) If the Dm says it doesn't work, well thats tough for me isn't it. If I survive, he won't be using it against me cause it doesn't work.

3) If it does work, and he bypasses the difficulty 1) listed above, and he uses it on my character, I fully expect him to use it on the entire party - If he just uses it on me that would be punishing me for being clever. I'm friends with my DM he wouldn't do that so he'd have to get us all, ending the campaign.

As for it being DMs call - This is, of course, true. I think it would work. There is nothing in the description of the QFT that suggests it wouldn't work. My character will most likely take alot of damage inside the dragon, but I think he will survive. Also - I heard of this tactic being used on these boards, so the thought that it will work is not unreasonable. I've just got to come up with the best delivery system for the QFT.

-Dragon: Yeah, "white" scales but pink eyes - your DMs pulling a fast one on ya. It's an albino. Figuring out what type will be tricky ahead of time - BUT! That double-pupil eye thing has me thinking; what else has double pupil eyes? The only think I can think of are frogs. Two pupils one on top of the other like an 8 so they can look both above and below the water surface without any loss in vision. I believe that's the only known naturally occurant reason for double pupil eyes.

Which says to me, it's an albino aquatic dragon. Which, if it's evil says Black.

-The Amazing Teleporting Internal Tree Tactic: Don't. Really, just don't. For one, you're opening a door you really don't want opened - if you do it, your DM is free to then do it to you. Two, it's lameish; instant kill via tree-insertion takes away fun, rather than creates it. Three, it's not thematically sound - you or the archons don't know what the functioning insides of a dragon are like and there's a couple examples that say if you use some form of travel magic and end up sharing space with a solid object, you get shunted off to the nearest available unoccupied area and take X ammount of damage per Y distance between where you ported to and where is the closest available place for you to end up. Realistically (in that your character is a student of magic in some for or another), your character would know this precident before even trying it out.

Also, the spell enlargment says that it can't crush a creature to death. And your DM is free to use this ruling on all things enlarging.

I would note that - while items don't exactly duplicate the effects of the spells used to create them - Feather Tokens are crafted using Major Creation, which is a Conjuration spell.

Under the description of Conjuration spells, it states that "A creature or object brought into being or transported to your location by a conjuration spell cannot appear inside another creature or object, nor can it appear floating in empty space."

In other words, no casting Create Water to flood someone's lungs, and (if I'm DMing, certainly), no Feather Token Trees inside dragons.

I'm one of the foremost advocates of the QFTT, but that's not a use, it's an abuse :)
