How to get Inside a Dragon

Some, but the fact that it's working with Aurilites kinda narrows it down. It's gonna be evil, either by nature or by freak mischance.

What other dragon types are aquatic?

Black
Bronze

what else?

I'm one of the foremost advocates of the QFTT, but that's not a use, it's an abuse :)

And what, according to you, are it's uses. I've never figured one out yet. Other than to make a tree of course. :)

100 gp for an insta-tree is a good investment.

- ladder
- larder (acorns are edible)
- flotation device
- shade
- blockade
- lightning rod

In the games I've been in, I've seen them dropped on giants (well, rolled, really, but that's unimportant) and as a blockade. They're a neat toy at 100 gp, but shouldn't be lethal, otherwise they're far more cost effective than an arrow of slaying.

And read Transport Via Plants and Tree Stride in the PHB, and let your imagination run wild.

Interesting

I didn't see these kind of objections to this use of the QFTT when it was used in just this same way in Piratecat's story hour. :)

I'm going to try it :D

If it works it works if it don't it don't - oh well :)

As to the dragon - its gone out of its way to demonstrate that it is a white dragon. Breathing what looked like a cone of cold vapors, plus a couple other things.

I've started to think the DM slapped some sort of template on it and is using the pink eyes to throw us off. If it is templated I'm guessing the template would remove one of the big weaknesses a white dragon has - vulnerability to fire. So I've been wracking my brains on alternate methods of taking it down.

Some other info - character makeup

1. Human Priest of Hathor (CL8/DD3/Con1)
2. Elven Mage 12
3. Human Brb/Rng/Flame Steward 12th level total
4. Human Ftr/DWS/OOBI 11th level total
5. Aasimar Paladin of Torm (Pal8/Sor1/Nthrmn2)
6. Tiefling Ftr5/Rog3/NotCM2
7. Halfelven Druid 11

The dragon has been helping us, sort of.
Our group was working to stop some barbarian/lycanthropes led by a fallen priest of Malar turned to Talos aided by some Frost giants allied with devils. The dragon had been giving us information regarding the whereabouts and goings on of the groups we were after. However, being suspicios of evil dragons by nature I did some divinations. They revealed that this dragon (Ryvnorax) was working with the Aurlites (who we had opposed earlier). They also revealed that "The frost will rise when the thunder stops" - something we have taken to mean that the Aurilites will gain power if the Talosian priest and his cronies are stopped. Now that we have stopped this talosian, we are just waiting for ole whitey to jump us as we trek around the wilderness outside of Silverymoon. We have the means to travel very quickly and most likely avoid him (and the Aurilites) right now, but its just a matter of time before were caught out in the open.

Your DM might be trying to pull the old Homophone Trick. Are you sure it's not a wight dragon?

That aside, I dunno if I'd allow a QFT to expand in a space too small for it. It's such a low-price magic item, I wouldn't want to give it offensive uses.

There are other items you can use, though; the Immovable Rod comes to mind. My sorcerer carries one around in his standard gear, because he has this unfortunate tendency to be swallowed by monsters.

Piratecat mentioned a Figurine of Wondrous Power - those create an animate creature that can do all sorts of painful things to the dragon from the inside, without necessarily relying on damage through expansion...

from the srd on ehtereal jaunt:

When the spell expires, the character returns to material existence.
If the character ends the spell and become material while inside a material object (such as a solid wall), the character is shunted off to the nearest open space and takes 1d6 points of damage per 5 feet that the character traveled.

I think a creature might count as a material object for the purposes of this spell.

Are you hoping the stomach has enough open space to appear in?

Beware the albino red dragon who was turned into a wight (using a template).

I'd do some research on what generically or specifically (rare mutant dragon there is some bardic lore on) has two pupils in its eyes.

I'd also suggest confirming in your commune whether it is an undead wight dragon or a chromatic white dragon.

The figurine (a dog named Angus IIRC) carried the QFTT and allowed itself to be swallowed, activating the QFTT inside.

Yep :D If there isn't enough room I won't end the spell.

As for it being a wight dragon and not a white dragon....
Well we've seen it up close during the day, and I thought we did a detect undead on it. I'll have to check my notes on that.

IDHMBIFOM - what does the pseudonatural template do for a critter. That could give it an odd appearance at least. I'll be using a few more communes, but I hate burning experience :(
Plus I'm running into the problem of what exactly does my character know vs what I know about the game. I've already had one minor go round with the DM because of a particular question that I asked. I thought the info we had made the question obvious, he thought I had read his notes somehow.
