How to make the Warlord more Roguish?

I'm trying to think of how one would go about tweaking the warlord class to be not STR dependent to hit, but instead DEX based like the Rogue. Problem is the INT or CHA choice means CHA is clearly the better option. Plus other things.

Has anyone thought about how to make a more roguish warlord? Is it just not possible?

You have to be more specific about what you mean by "roguish". Are we talking 3e/4e rogues, roguish as in the dictionary definition, or what?

If you want to simply change the warlord to being Dex based, I see no problem. If you are worried about Int vs. Cha issue, simply replace Int with Wis. I think Wis still fits the tactical warlord fairly well, and this way both secondary stats boost Will defenses and a set of useful skills: Dungeoneering, Heal, Insight, Nature, and Perception vs. Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Streetwise.

It basically becomes the Perceptive Warlord (who sees the battlefield and several moves ahead, almost like a chessmaster) vs. the Inspiring Warlord.

If you describe in more detail what you want to accomplish by these changes, you would probably get more useful feedback.

I guess by more roguish I mean more like 3/4ed rogues, yes.

It stems from a character I had in 3.5, a bard but built to be a bit more tactical. Once 4ed details came out I was hoping to reskin him to Warlord, but the reliance on STR for all the to hit powers didn't mesh with the character concept.

I wanted somebody lithe, and aware as opposed to hulking.

I do like your idea of using either Wis or Cha for the two different presences. (Aka the Perceptive Warlord).

I'm going to play around with it when I get some time, see what I can do.

Thanks!

So my first pass is as follows:

Urban Warlord

1) change +1 Will to +1 Ref (since either presence keys off of WIS/CHA)

2) Skill list is now:
  1. Bluff
  2. Diplomacy
  3. Insight
  4. Intimidate
  5. Perception
  6. Streetwise

3) All Warlord powers using STR to determine the attack now use WIS.

4) Insightful Presence: provides same benefit as Tactical Presence but keys off Wisdom modifier. All powers which provide benefits from Tactical Presence key off of Insightful Presence as well, but replacing INT modifier driven effects with Wisdom modifier driven effects.

Thoughts?

Also should I replace powers that use Int mod without being driven off Tactical with Wis mod?
