How to overcome Hold Person?

How would a low level (4th-7th) level fighter overcome hold person?

Assume that the fighter has low wisdom, and is pretty much held in every fight. I'm thinking something along the lines of a low-level wand for one of the spellcasters to use on him, but I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Will it work?

Will Protection from Evil or Freedom of movement work against Hold Person? I am inclinde to think they do, but reading the other thread on this form about PfE makes me doubt myself.

4) Three levels of Holy Liberator

5) Have your cleric buddy ready Hold Person as a counterspell

Ring of Freedom of Movement is pretty pricey, but really, really nice at high levels.

I think I will end up going with the Ring of Counterspells, as that is the easiest for my character to do at the moment (maybe even 2, both with Hold Person)?

I do not know those prestige classes, but I will check them out (if you have a sec and do not mind telling me which book to look in, that would rock!).

The other points are good ones to consider as well.

Considering that when it comes to making saves, this character not only has low scores, but is also VERY unlucky, I do not think Iron Will is going to help him, but it is always worth consideration!

Yeah, man, your real problem is your will save, not protection from hold person. Think big picture.
