How to prevent being dispelled?

What counter measures can a wizard take to prevent his spells from being dispelled by either dispel magic, or greater dispel?

So far, only thing I can come up with is a ring of counterspells, but that wouldn't work for greater dispel.

Why wouldn't a Ring of Counterspells (1st-6th level) work against greater dispelling (5th/6th)?

Other means:
Bead of karma (wonderous item): divine +4 caster levels = +20% vs dispel checks
Tenacious Magic (feat): FRCS
Post erratum Spell Thematics (feat): MaoF
Several domain and prestige domain abilities (good, law, healing, divination, etc.).

Thought it was 1-5....odd.... Good news though. :)

Would a pale green Ioun stone work? It says +1 competence bonus to attack rolls, saves, and checks. Or does checks mean skill checks?

Thought spell immunity for a second, but dispel is no SR. :(

AFAIK, checks means all checks. But you don't make a check at all when you spell is being dispelled. The dispelling party is the one that makes the check. So a luckstone or ioun stone won't help.

IIRC, there was a spell in 2E called Spell Lock (or something similar). You cast it after all your buff spells were in place. When you got hit with a dispel, the 'lock' would go poof automatically, but your other buffs would remain in place. (At least, I think that's how it worked. I may just be confused, though.)

best solution

best solution is the +1 weapon enhancement from Magic of Faerun... Spellblade. It reads as follows:

The wielder is immune to a single spell chosen at the time the weapon is created. The chosen spell must be one that is targeted against the wielder (not a spell that affects an area). When the wielder is subjected to the spell, the weapon absorbs the spell. On the wielder's next turn, she can opt to let the spell drain harmlessly away or direct the spell at a new target as a free action.

Make your chosen spell be dispel magic or greater dispel magic. Even better is to get this enchantment twice -- once on each end of a quarterstaff and pick them both. Nice and cheap and highly effective.

Of course, it only works with targeted dispels. So an area dispel would still get through, but you only lose one spell to that. The pain comes when they start taking out multiple spells with one dispel as in the targeted version.

Almost certinaly wouldn't work. Spell imunity gives you unbeatable SR, and SR dosn't apply to dispel magic. While the desciptin dosn't mention the imunity spell, I think it makes the most sense to run it the same way.
