How to prevent being dispelled?

As a side note to all this - being immune to Dispell can be a very bad thing. If the fighter is immune to Dispell Magic, what are you going to do if he's Dominated? What if the wizard gets Polymorphed? The standard response to this type of spell is to Dispell it, and you can't do that anymore. Think very carefully before doing something to block magic removal spells.

Even if you were immune to dispel (which can only mean you cannot be the target of a dispel, or a dispel targeted at you has no effect), then your spells would still not be immune and could be targeted and dispelled individually!

Rod of Absorption works well, even against dispels targeting your spells.

A wizard in our group, who spent alot of exp on personal permanecy spells, item created a specialized Rod of Absorption to work on dispel and greater dispelling spells only.

Almost certinaly wouldn't work.
Nonsense.
Spell imunity gives you unbeatable SR, and SR dosn't apply to dispel magic. While the desciptin dosn't mention the imunity spell, I think it makes the most sense to run it the same way.
Just because there is a spell with "immunity" in its name, does not mean that the word changes its meaning in the rest of the game.

And the spellblade ability is created with (IIRC) the spell turning spell. Spell turning will make you immune to dispel magic, and it's also related to the granted ability to absorb and "re-cast" the chosen spell as a free action.

You can't target something you can't see.

(But let's not start that discussion again. :))

Well, actually that would be quite interesting, as we had thought about this in our last game.

How do you dispel a specific spell? You can do so, the spell says so!
OTOH, the rules say you have to be able to see (or touch) the target of a spell!

Do you just have to know it's there, or do you actually need to see it (which is impossible, except with Arcane Sight, I suppose, as is touching the spell, or can you touch spells?).

Can someone who has been blinded dispel the blindness that affects himself, for example?

You have to see the target of the spell; so if you can see your Dominated friend, you can break just the Dominate, and not the Mass Haste, Endurance, etc that's also on your friend.

I am pretty sure I saw a feat in T&B or somewhere that basically makes your spells harder to dispel (all checks to dispel your magic is at a -2) or something along those lines.

Doesn't exactly prevent it fom happening, just makes it more difficult and therefore less likley.

A Spellcraft check would also be appropriate to target the dispel that precisely. IIRC, it's DC 20 + spell level to identify an ongoing spell.
