How to switch campaign settings without being corny.

I'm playing in Midnight right now, and IMHO it's not viable to simply use Core classes against Midnight threats. Magic is just too different, and there simply aren't any Gods available (for Clerics & Paladins and FR's Druids & Rangers).

I'd suggest that they "translate" their PCs over to Midnight's races, classes, and its Heroic Path system, at the level you desire.

However, I think it's saner to start them at 1st level in Midnight. It's just too different a place.

My suggestion is to start over. Well...kinda. Run both. That's what I did.

Midnight is a very dark setting. For a lot of groups, it can get to be a bit much over extended amounts of time. (Especially if you are a Midnight purist and a rat-bastard DM like I am.) My suggestion is to run both campaigns at once.

If you meet every week or whatever, play Midnight one week, and FR the next. Because the settings are so different, they will help both of them feel more "fresh" when that setting comes around again.

Another advantage of this is that it makes the DM's job a little less stale. Sometimes you get an idea for a cool encounter or whatever, but it doesn't fit well into whatever campaign you are running. Running two campaigns that are so different insures that you'll have an outlet for whatever cool ideas you come up with.
