How to use Pixies & Satyrs?

Have the satyr ask the PCs for help in a quest to prove his heroism to a dryad he's in love with? Maybe slaying an appriopately sized green dragon or something that is plagueing the forest.

Maybe have him be interested in the religion of the cleric, seeking to change his ways (if the cleric is lawful) or just become more devout (if the cleric is chaotic), possibly becoming a noble friend or pesky annoyance.

Have him fall in love with the sorceress and introduce her to a pseudodragon friend of his to try to win her love in return, who may become her familiar.

Have him invite them all to a big dancing and drinking party with loyts of other fey, and have a rocking good time if they accept, or pout and pester them for a while if they refuse.

Or comnine them into one big side trek.

Anyway, just a few (lousy) ideas for you, hope it helps!

...
Or he could steal nothing from them but their clothing (and armor). Questing naked is great fun!

In the Mythology of ancient Greece, satyrs were the avatars of Bacchus (and to Pan to an extent). They were symbolic of lust [most of the classical imagery is emphatic about this].
in a lot of the myths when they werent chasing women they were drunk - leading them in to a kind of Bacchic frenzy. They also spread fear and panic

if you want a dark kind of imagery from them combine that little lot with the idea of what Bacchanalians were capable of; 2 ancient heroes were torn apart by the bacchanalians.

on the lighter side an encounter with a Satyr Drunken master might be entertaining...

I played through a fun encounter with some pixies recently. They mucked around with us a little, before convincing us to play games with them. There's 2 of these I remember:

Archery game. The party ranger and one of the pixies took it in turns to shoot balloons. First to 5 won. Each time a balloon was popped, a random spell effect hit the shooter - some good, some bad. He ended up with donkey hooves, hasted, shooting flaming arrows and assorted vegetable matter falling out of his ears. All wore off after a day or so, but was funny. :D

Dice game. Similarly random - with a player vs a pixie. Roll a dice and higher wins. Best of 5 game. Depending on the combination of the dice, something would happen to either one of the players or one of the audience. :) Ended up with a paladin and alienist exchanging bodies...

Made for a memorable session

Not to pimp my own story hour, but here is an encounter with both satyrs and pixies: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?p=316117&highlight=Deathlessness#post316117

It starts there and then continues a few posts down.

The party was defending the dwarf PC as he completed a special scythe for a group of druids under the light of the full moon.

Too bad this Q didn't come in a few weeks as another set of encounters with pixies will be coming up in my story hour soon. . .

IMC I have a 'prank war' going on between a band of pixes and their semi rellitives gremlins (made myself, don't know whether other products have used the name), Its gradually getting more and more out of hand. One characters hair has now been permanently changed colour to green, another has a goblin that has fallen in love with him and tails the party wherever they go. They also didn't apreciate suddenly finding their tents and blankets on fire dureing the night. :heh:

Eventually somethings going to happen to stop the 'war', who knows what though. :)
