D&D (2024) How will the 2024 rules do with monster resistances to P/B/S

I'm not too concerned with high level, optimized Gish characters; I never see them. I bet they are less than .1% of characters. You play a very different game than most. That is not a criticism, but an observation.

I am not concerned either. I see a lot of them actually (some played by me) but I love the fiction and have no problem with the "martial-caster divide".

A lot of people on this board have stated that martials (and Fighters in specifically) need to be the best at melee and they are not happy with "carrying the Wizard's spellbooks".

I'm fine with the changes if this is what is happening. Most of the PCs in my games have a magic weapon by 4-5th level and the monsters become less scary. Keeping the half damage regardless of magci makes the players think a bit more or take twice the damage killing it.

The problem with the resistance mitigate is that classes with cantrips.can generally skip the gimmick. Weapon-based classes are stuck waiting for in-game solutions to minigame while the others have a solution button to press on their sheet from lvl 1.

And the opposite isn't true: how many monster are immune to magic from low-level mages? Most that are resistant to magic are also resistant to physical damage anyways.

This asymmetric level of engagement isn't fun or fair. I can't wait to see how the 2024 game will revamp the resistance system.
