D&D 5E How will the Forgotten Realms be handled?

Personally, I hate pretty much all D&D novels, RAS' included. I hate his characters, I hate the way he names things, I hate the way his work helped Drow from a race that worshiped many different demonic patrons in constant conflict (see: G3, D3) into emo spider-worshipers, I hate the way he writes dialogue and I hate the way D&D novels in general, and especially his D&D novels, tend to affect the larger campaign setting and game as a whole....

...Speaking as a Realms-hater

Thats WAY too much hate lol.

You're not reading the right ones, then. Bruce Cordell, Erin Evans, Paul Crilley, Marcy Rockwell, Paul Kidd, Paul Kemp...

(That's a lot of Pauls. )

And several others. There are some really good D&D tie-in novels/authors out there.

Is there a list of changes so far? I can't seem to find one.
Haven't encountered one in my searching, although I did read that the reason no list has been compiled is that the exact outcomes of The Sundering have yet to be finally determined via organized play. As far as I know, Dreams of the Red Wizards II: Dead in Thay is the last Sundering adventure, so when it's retired, my guess is the Sundering will be finalized.

Again, I'm not an expert nor insider nor superfan, so I make no promises of accuracy.

I haven't used the Forgotten Realms since 2nd Edition, so I really don't follow all the changes that happened in setting. However, I remember hearing that the Spellplague of 4th Edition altered the continents somewhat through flooding and earthquakes. Will the 5th edition Forgotten Realms bring the map back to way it was before (through whatever Deus ex Machina that may be)?
