Yes. Certain spells are only available if you have certain domains. For example, the Instinct domain has some spells on it that are usually on the mage lists.

But I primarily envisage this as an item for mages.

For wizards, it's no big deal, really. Neither is it all that cool for Clerics or Druids. It's pretty significant for sorcerers and the like. Maybe if you restricted it to preparation only? A sorcerer can still pick up Arcane Preparation, so you might need to fiddle with that.

*shrug* At the price it's going to run you (even at the price of eternal wands), there are better things to spend your money on. I don't see a problem with pricing it as such. I can see why you suggested what you did, though. :)
